Iowa Deer Hunting Trips

shim.gif (43 bytes)

Iowa Trophy Outfitters offers a 5 day whitetail hunt in south east Iowa (ZONE5). The state of Iowa deer hunting is the best trophy hunting in the world. Iowa is known as the land of the giants due to the incredible genetics and protein rich agricultural soil. With all the ingredients, Iowa has produced the world’s largest whitetail scoring 307 inches and many other world class whitetails. With Iowa’s perfectly timed shotgun season it allows the whitetails to grow to maturity. Iowa ranks number one and two in corn and soybean production in the country, that's why many whitetails exceed 300 pounds in body weight.

ITO also spends thousands of dollars a year on mineral and protein supplements to increase their antler and body mass.

We also have high protein food plots strategically placed on our farms.

Our hunts are fully guided.

More information:

If you fail to draw a deer tag, you will be booked in the same slot for the next year. License fees are now $424.35 and include a small game license which is required by Iowa. You can now hunt game birds, waterfowl, small game and predators in Iowa during your hunt, if time allows. We take care of all applications and drawing procedures. The deadline for all applications is the first part of June with draw results available in late June.

Preference Point Information:

Several years ago the Iowa DNR started allowing prospective non-resident deer and turkey hunters to purchase a preference point directly without the hassle of having to put in for a drawing in an over- subscribed area to get a point. This allows hunters to accumulate preference points for future hunts so they are assured (as much as Iowa's archaic licensing system allows) of getting an Iowa license when they are ready to hunt Iowa. At present, in ITO’s hunting area, one preference point virtually assures a non-resident hunter a deer or turkey license in archery or firearms seasons. ITO will handle applications for preference points for all prospective or booked clients. If you are contemplating a future hunt with ITO, get on the preference point purchase program NOW. Preference point fee is $12.30.

PREFERENCE POINTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE DURING THE IOWA LICENSE DRAWING PERIOD OF MAY AND JUNE.

Late season primitive weapons (archery/muzzleloader):

With the drawing power of our well established food plots, the late season provides an excellent opportunity for a trophy buck for muzzleloader or bow. We are going to keep this quality hunt limited to 3 hunters. So don't wait to book! Drawing for the late season is as close to a sure thing as the Iowa DNR allows.

  • Important information: If you are born after 1/1/72 you must get a copy of your hunter's safety card to us in order for us to apply for your license. It must be legible as we have to fax it to the licensing agency when we apply for your license.
  • No exceptions.
  • Proof of a hunter’s safety course should be in your possession while hunting with ITO.
  • Big game rifles are not allowed for Iowa deer hunting.
  • References: Call or e-mail for ITO references. We do not post names and address on our web pages.
