Preference Point Information:
Several years ago the Iowa DNR started allowing prospective non-resident deer and turkey hunters to purchase a preference
point directly without the hassle of having to put in for a drawing in an over- subscribed area to get a point. This allows hunters
to accumulate preference points for future hunts so they are assured (as much as Iowa's archaic licensing system allows) of
getting an Iowa license when they are ready to hunt Iowa.
At present, in ITO’s hunting area, one preference point virtually assures a non-resident hunter a deer or turkey license in archery
or firearms seasons. ITO will handle applications for preference points for all prospective or booked clients. If you are
contemplating a future hunt with ITO, get on the preference point purchase program NOW. Preference point fee is $12.30.
PREFERENCE POINTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE DURING THE IOWA LICENSE DRAWING PERIOD OF JANUARY.
Important information: If you are born after 1/1/72 you must get a copy of
your hunter's safety card to us in order for us to apply for your license. It must be
legible as we have to fax it to the licensing agency when we apply for your license. No exceptions.
- Proof of a hunter’s safety course should be in your possession while hunting with ITO.
- References: Call or e-mail for ITO references. We do not post names and address on our web pages.
